    The seventh Pepakura sculpture of my Zodiac constellation series.  Its name is Latin for "twins," and it is associated with the twins Castor and Pollux in Greek mythology.      Gemini was associated with the myth of Castor and Pollux, the children of Leda and Argonauts both. Pollux was the son of Zeus, who seduced Leda, while Castor was the son of Tyndareus, king of Sparta and Leda's husband. Castor and Pollux were also mythologically associated with St. Elmo's fire in their role as the protectors of sailors.  The two brothers are also known for their constant rivalry with Theseus of Athens. Theseus, in fact, kidnapped their sister Helen one day and locked her up in Athens. When Theseus was away attending to other business, Castor and Pollux stormed the city and took Helen back. The sixth zodiac constellation sign I work is the Cancer, the Giant Crab.  By the Idea of the Mythology, Zodiac Constellation- Cancer is a large scale of Crab. By this thought of imagination, I had use 3D program model a crab and turn it to a large cardboard sculpture. In Greek Mythology, Cancer is a giant crab that tried to aid Hydra when it was battling with Herakles. But Herakles crushed it beneath his foot, but as a reward for its service the goddess Hera placed it amongst the star as the constellation Cancer. But since it's failure the light of itself is the weakest in the zodiac constellations  Once I build it up and coded the epoxy, I use spray paint of black to cover the entire space and use the spackle technique to spray the white and silver spray over the surface of the sculpture. Giving a space feel and also try to present the barely light from its self. By personal design, I had created a mark of “y” it’s symbolized of the connection stars of Cancer.  ...

The Fifth of the Pepakura sculpture is Taurus, it is a sign of bull. I had use a little relation between language from Taurus to Minotaur. Both of the name have some kind of related of the meaning of bull but one is the zodiac constellation sign and another one is fantasy/ mythical creature. This sculpture is 7 feet tall. By this time I had build up the lower body of the Taurus with cardboard and upper body with the thick plotter inked paper. By using it gives the sculpture texture on top of the body. Since the plotter paper is till very thin, I need to very carefully cut the piece off by hands and slowly combine it together. After all parts are combine together, I had shoot some foam inside the body and try to make it hard on top of body.

 Leo  is one of the  constellations  of the  zodiac , lying between  Cancer  to the west and  Virgo  to the east. Its name is  Latin  for  lion , and to the  ancient Greeks  represented the  Nemean Lion  killed by the mythical Greek hero Hercules as one of his  twelve labors.     By the Greek mythology, Leo was identified as the Nemean  Lion, which killed and torn off its skin by Heracles. On mythology, Heracles wore Nemean Lion's leather as an armor since the lion was impervious to any weaponry when it was alive.     On my design for Leo this time, no more focus on the character but focus on the part of lion leather cover on a dummy character. Which present as Heracles's lion leather and the Weapon dummy is holding is a symbol of the constellation star of Leo.    Secondly, the staff represents the connection stars of the astrology Leo After the ...

The third pepakura sculpture is Aries, which present as a female goat. This time I have asked one concept artist to drew me a reference then I had modeled it in Maya. One of my friends was interest on rigging so I basically asked him to rigged as a try work. After rigged is done, I went back to fix some poly faces for better view/ shaping. This project had used the basic animation production process for producing the workflow. which is modeling, rigging, posing and it's one of the ways to control the quality of the work, but slowing down for each process of works. After glued all them up, Aries is half way to the finished product, and one code of the Aqua Gem turns the cardboard like the wooden surface.

Continue from my previous pepakura project Aquarius. The second pepakura sculpture is Sagittarius. Which it will look like a Centaur and it's going to be a life size 7.5 feet tall. In greek mythology, Sagittarius is usually identified as a centaur: half Human, half horse. But due to the Greek's adoption of the Sumerian constellation, it also symboled as an archer. Since I'm interested in mythology and fantasy, it kept me an opportunity to create these pepakura pieces. It also symbolizing that I am in the western culture.  I totally use 13 sheets of 2 x 4 ft card board for this sculpture. Which is the largest one I have done since then.
