Zodiac Constellation Pepakura Project - Scorpio

The final Zodiac constellation sign of this project is “Scorpio”. Since I was working on Zbrush for individual parts and had merged all the parts together in Autodesk Maya, modeling the initial design was quite tedious. During my modeling process, I referenced creatures from the movie, “The Mummy 2,” and integrated the body shape of the scorpion creatures into my Scorpio structure. During the modeling process, I also planned to make the arms, legs, and tail detachable in order to ease the moving and transportation process of the large structure itself. Since this was my very last sculpture in this series, I decided to create the largest Pepakura sculpture I have ever done.

The final size of the sculpture is measured at 5 feet tall, 9 feet wide, and 9 feet in length. I had designed the socket structure between the arms, legs, upper body, tail, and the main body. So everything can be attached together once its build up.

After the first code of epoxy for stable the tapes and testing of color on the legs:

I chose to texture Scorpio using a dark flat purple to represent the dangerous nature of a scorpion.

 I also utilized red tape to tape the moving joints of this sculpture. 

On the surface of the sculpture, I brushed on two coats of epoxy to create a glossy surface and to mimic the metallic texture of armor over the top of the body.
